|    IT jobs moving to India and back?    |

ff2d8e8f       From: trminlxGARBAGE@bitstreamnet.com              Stealing my bosses copy of Information Week (he's out of town and won't       miss it) I ran across a rather interesting article regarding the       outsourcing of IT and other Data Entry jobs to Indian firms.              Most companies site that it's much cheaper labor and it is. Several       companies see the advantage of going to a vendor for many of their basic       needs thus reducing in house costs and overhead in both personel and in       the cold room.              But companies like SunMicro who produce the hardware and software aren't       as happy. There is a big push to make servers do more for cheaper to try       and entice the companies to stop out sourcing and bring it back in house.              I don't believe for a minute SunMicro gives a crap about where the jobs       are, but their bottom line is also affected everytime a company goes to       an outsourcing center, that's one less customer buying servers and       software from them. I believe that our corporate need to go cheaper and       cheaper will find itself in a bind fairly soon .. realizing that they've       integrated the various sectors so much in the last decade that they       almost have to keep things in house so they don't collapse an entire       section and then take themselves with it once the dust settles.              (note: SunMicro was simply the main company mentioned in the article       regarding why many parts of the tech industry are as unhappy about the       move to India as the IT people who got laid off).                     ghost       ~/~ Sometimes I forget to pray I'll make it through this fucking day ~/~        www.accanthology.com ~/~ www.bitstreamnet.com        take out the GARBAGE to email.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
