What a waste!       >              well .. they evidently based most of their ideas on Jean Baudrillard..       this is blindingly obvious if u read "Simulacra and Simulation" .. often       Morpheus is quoting the text word for word.              the problem is Baudrillard isn't all that impressive.. some interesting       ideas.. and he gets a 10 out of 10 for timeliness.. but his ideas are       often broken, flawed, and incomplete.. my biggest complaint is that the       text is often using unnecessarily complicated language to describe simple       things.. (.. nothing wrong with 10 cent words when needed.. but       IMO to use them unnecessarily when discussing already complicated       ideas is just silly.. i often got the impression he was purposely       obfuscating his discussion to mask the fact that he was spouting       nonsense. ..possibly a problem resulting from the translator.. i don't       speak or read french so i have to rely upon the english version)              i also saw large holes in his definition of "simulate" and dissimulate",       the premise much of his discussion is based upon.. its not surprising i       dislike the guy when u consider i didn't even accept his most basic points. ;       )                     ..       alias              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
