   the "hip-hop" crowd, I believe, started out with the hoodie and still   
   use it to hide their faces. I also know from way back that Graf-artists   
   favored the hoods as the provided decent cover when fleeing the   
   authorities (hard to get a good description when you can't see the head).   
      
   Hooded garmets have been around a while and are by no means the purvue   
   of any one (non)subculture.   
      
   and personally I don't believe there is a cyberpunk subculture, just a   
   layer where other subcultures have a habit of overlapping occasionally.
