well.. i feel fairly confident in stating WG is "cyberpunk" .. its also
   common knowledge that:

   1. he knows next to nothing about computers (read "Pattern Recognition"
for further evidence.. if u can't spot the glaring comp-u-errors then u
too, know next to nothing about computers.)
   2. he doesn't listen to ministry. (ok.. i could be wrong here.. but i'd
   be shocked if i was)
   3. he's not a punk.

IMO the guy looks like a wacky lit proffessor. he's about as punk rock
as my mom. not that this is a problem.. he's an excellent writer and
his appearence/musical tastes don't matter on that score..

as to the definition of cyberpunk (damn.. i'm about to awnser the
question.. i blame the tumors myself) i've always maintained it had more
to do with future shock than technology. there is a difference ; )

i think alot of the reason cyberpunk is dead dead dead is there is no
longer that huge well of anomie to tap into.. we have all (more or less)
adapted to the tech that surrounds us.. PC's are no longer revolutionary
thier just there.. ubiquitous and unalarming..

a classically "cyberpunk" story is now nothing more than realism..

i think Mr. G recognized this when he set PR in the present day.. he no
longer needs to use the future to tell the stories he's interested in..
