I just got my newsserver up and runnning (leafnode) with 25k+ altcp
articles going back to 94. They're also indexed with Glimpse and with
Remembrance Agent for emacs. You could install a linux partition on your
Mac or pick up a cheap wintel box and run leafnode. Once you've got
linux up and running, leafnode is a no-brainer to set up (one little
config file). But everything depends on whether you've saved out the
articles in plaintext w/headers -- if so, it's easy to insert the
   articles into the newsspool.

Poly and I are still renting. There's not a lot of choices where we're
at. People from the Wasatch and the Rockies have 2nd homes here so they
can escape winter snows, and for weekend vacations. As the economy
weakens we're expecting some of them to come on the market, at which
point we'll be ready to join the Union 8-).
