   Well, all of some kind of kids, anyway. I can understand some   
   abbreviations, I tell you. I mean, I use YHBT a lot, as well as YHL and   
   HAND. Which are acronyms but that's BESIDE THE POINT. Using one letter   
   as an abbreviation for a three letter word is just laziness, I tell ya.

   Actually, I think the reverse is true. Quite a few people who wouldn't   
   engage in written communication *at all* do so because of the Internet,   
   and so demonstrate better skills than they might otherwise. Of course,   
   the ease of communication coupled with the lack of standards (such as   
   Strunk & White) leads to slang that's almost entirely mired in text.
