From: auanon@airmail.cc              I've been running in on a bunch of old thinkpads (as any gentooman       should be :p), both as my PCs and as my home servers. It really did       have good hardware compatibility, across a decade or more of devices.       I'm fairly confident that I could throw it at any plain, boring PC and       have it just work(tm).              There are 2 pretty big exceptions: Obviously, a good chunk of computers       require non-free drivers for their wireless chips. Thankfully, so long       as you have ethernet during install, fw_update(8) will grab and install       everything. Similarly, most graphics cards require proprietary       drivers. Reportedly, Novidia cards have trash support, though I think AMD       is a little better.              As for running a mail server: Is it hard to get other providers       (hotmail, gmail, etc) to accept your mail? I've heard that it can be a       big problem, if you're self hosting anyways.              --       PGP ID: 0xCBA5A1DB4336CE5EB5FDF1DF18B65A09AE9011BA              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
