Email hosting is a tiny bit of a headache.
You can easily setup SPF, DKIM, DMARC and all the other things required
to show up as "clean" as possible, but you're never really certain.
For some reason am on two blacklists (out of like the 90 or so I
checked) and my emails seem to be going fine towards everyone I send them to.
But as you said, you're never 100% if your email landed in someone's
inbox or if it was sent to spam.

For me, everything's going fine so I would personally advise you to look
into it if not to use it seriously, then at least for the fun of it.

Gitea is a little bit heavy since it comes with the whole suit (issues,
   comments,...)
Personally I just use Cgit. It's simple and lightweight and, since I
host all my personal projects on it, it suits my needs perfectly.
