   Back then it made perfect sense. Dartmouth was one of the leaders but in   
   the mid-60s RPI didn't have the concept of CS yet. Learning FORTRAN was   
   seen as another tool like a K&E sliderule with the magnifying cursor for   
   increased accuracy, not a career opportunity.
