Not exactly your own situation, but I was somewhere in there at first
too. I wanted to move away from linux but my gaming other hobbies needed
   windows.
But then I made the jump, and before getting a game I would first check
if it was Linux compatible, and I would try to steer my software needs
towards more linux-friendly options... Well, in time, I got used to not
doing as much gaming, and my hobbies became more about tinkering and
   DIYing my own tools.

Reminds me of what they say about quitting smoking, for example. You
might not be able to quit cold-turkey, but just putting more friction
might cause you to naturally reconsider it.

All this to say: Yeah, just get a cheap laptop and make it a linux
machine. Ideally, and if you have the time, look into a minimalist setup
like Arch that you can build all your needs on top.

You might find it harder and harder to even leave your linux machine for
   the Windows one.
