|    Storm Helene - Soon Cat-4 - Heads to Flo    |

XPost: talk.politics.misc, alt.survival, alt.politics.usa       From: 186282@ud0s4.net              8pm update :              It is now TS Helene. Within maybe only 12 hours it       will be a hurricane -conditions are ripe.              This is expected to reach cat-3 power, MAYbe even       cat-4, by the time it reaches the Florida panhandle,       Thursday evening.              It is also expected to be a WIDE storm - there       was a lot of moisture where it was breeding.              The track predictions - US and Euro - are VERY narrow,       very high confidence. The impact point will be over       Tallahassee - which has LOTS of really nice trees that       WILL fall down on everything. Some smaller towns,       even a whole county, have ordered total evacuation.              The "Big Bend" area of west Florida is especially       prone to storm surge because of the slope of the       ocean floor and the 'wind trap' topography. 10-15       feet of surge is predicted. That means near-coastal       homes go TOTALLY UNDER.              However due to the forward speed, the storm will       immediately push into Georgia and even north of       that, still with a lot of energy and water. The       Atlanta area has already had a lot of rain due       to a stationary front and now Helene will add       maybe a FOOT to that total within hours.              ONLY good bit - with elections coming up FEMA       will be especially quick and generous ...              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
