XPost: talk.politics.misc, alt.survival, alt.politics.usa       From: 186282@ud0s4.net              The Weather Channel people have BIG ONES.              The eye-wall of Helene just got to Perry Fla, fairly       extreme gusts and bits of everything flying around.              Perry is a 'small-ish' town ... but DO note that these       'rural' areas actually have a rather large pop, just       kinda spread-out laterally vs a "big city". I had       been thru Perry some years back so I know the lay       of the land. It's only about 15 shallow miles       from the Gulf.              However the MOST impressive bit I've ever seen       on Weather was last year when Jim Cantore kinda       stepped out onto a street during Ian - and was       literally within an inch of going airborne from       the extreme wind. If he hadn't laid down flat ...              I think it was Cantore also during Katrina,       having to go upstairs, and more upstairs, in       a building as the storm surge hit Mississippi              Sorry, but IMAGES of being in a big hurricane       do NOT really convey the actual EXPERIENCE.       Been there, done that ... hopefully NOT AGAIN.              Ah ... Perry is now in the eye - everything has       gone calm. Won't last.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
