(PTI photo)              On June 16, 2013, Uttarakhand witnessed its greatest       natural tragedy till date. A flash flood which left over       6,000 people dead and thousands more homeless.              A year has passed but horrific images of the event are       still etched in the minds of the people whose lives and       livelihoods were devastated by the tragedy. Time is said       to be the greatest healer. But in this case, the passage       of time has brought little solace. Rather, the       Government's apathy has added to the pain and anguish of       the people as promises which were made to the victims       remain unfulfilled.              Thousands of survivors are still struggling to pick up       the pieces and hope that the Government will come to       their rescue.              The Himalayan Tsunami not only led to the deaths of many,       it also swept away thousands of houses and shops in       addition to destroying the State's road and       communications network.              Continues at:              http://www.niticentral.com/2014/06/16/uttarakhand-tragedy-a-year       later-no-recovery-yet-231730.html              Jai Maharaj, Jyotishi       Om Shanti              http://groups.google.com/group/alt.fan.jai-maharaj              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
