   The Issue: The NAACP’s advisory that African Americans not travel to   
   Florida because of recent laws.   
      
   NAACP President Derrick Johnson was just blowing hot air as his   
   organization issued an advisory to African Americans not to travel to   
   Florida (“NAACP’s Fla. Trip Warning,” May 22).   
      
   In his twisted mind, Florida is hostile to black people. Meanwhile, Leon   
   Russell, the NAACP’s chairman, lives in Tampa.   
      
   Florida is a success story for black-owned business. Regrettably, black   
   leaders like Johnson — who are so removed from their rank-and-file members   
   — occasionally emerge from their ivory-tower cocoons and make   
   controversial statements to stay relevant.   
      
   Unfortunately, Johnson is nothing more than a mouthpiece for the   
   Democratic Party and other so-called activists. This is not the mission of   
   the distinguished NAACP organization.

   The NAACP issued a travel advisory for black people not to go to Florida.   
   The clear reason is its leadership’s loathing of Gov. Ron DeSantis’   
   policies.   
      
   The NAACP fuels racial divisions in this country. Florida has one of the   
   lowest unemployment rates for black people, and their businesses are   
   thriving.   
      
   The NAACP should have issued a travel advisory for Chicago.

   In an attempt to derail the DeSantis presidential campaign, the leftist   
   NAACP issued a “travel advisory” that Florida has become hostile to black   
   Americans, aiming to discourage travel to Florida.   
      
   One wonders how Leon Russell, the NAACP’s Chairman of the Board of   
   Directors, feels about that: He resides in Tampa, Fla. Oops.   
      
   For the sake of “put your money where your mouth is,” I’m sure New York or   
   California would welcome Russell and his tax dollars with open arms.

   The NAACP, once a proud civil-rights organization with a long history of   
   advocating for African Americans and people of color, has morphed into a   
   weather service by issuing a nakedly political “advisory” about travel to   
   Florida.   
      
   Of course, this advisory just happens to coincide with Florida Gov. Ron   
   DeSantis’ expected announcement of a run for president.   
      
   Martin Luther King, Jr. must be spinning in his grave over this stunt.

   The Issue: The Post editorial criticizing “Diversity, Equity and   
   Inclusion” programs in public colleges.   
      
   Sunday’s editorial (“Nixing the DEI Scam,” May 21) was right on the mark.   
      
   Most Americans support diversity, equity, equality and inclusion. These   
   concepts are what made this country what it has become.   
      
   But “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion” programs are the very opposite of   
   those stated values.   
      
   They are Orwellian in their aim to divide us all from each other.   
      
   We should be focusing on our commonalities, but apparently, there is money   
   to be made by pitting us against one another through issues of gender,   
   race, color or religion.   
      
   God forbid we should remember our American motto: “Out of many, one.”
