   I was speaking in generalities.  Obviously there are corporations   
   (usually small ones) who still care about their employees.  But   
   that's the exception to the rule these days.   
      
   It's always been about return on shareholder investment.  The   
   difference now is, there's a disregard, even a contempt for   
   frontline workers.  Joe Sixpack is blamed for poor corporate   
   performance while corporate execs take massive salaries and   
   bonuses.  Just one example, I watched first-hand while Carly   
   Fiorina laid off 30% of HP's workforce, "in order to keep the   
   company profitable", then proceeded to take a $4.3 million   
   bonus for herself, part of $21.5 million in bonuses over five   
   years.
