   A tendency for schizophrenia is genetic. It would not be necessary   
   for either of your parents to have it though. Genetics is a complex   
   subject that you might not be interested in.   
      
   Often it manifests when a child is forced to deal with abuse that he   
   cannot explain or accept or escape. "This cannot be happening to me.   
   I'm somebody else" is the thought were it starts. But, of course, it   
   will be different in different people. It can lead to split   
   personality but not necessarily, to visions like you have, but not   
   necessarily.   
      
   But the answer is, I suspect, that the visions come from the same   
   place that dreams do. From you.
