also + fyi... have been seeing/thinking the 'end' of our civilisation
since the cuban missile crisis of 1962, when, as an impressionable +
then just 7-year & 2-months old kid, who innocently asked his mom why
she was suddenly so worried about what was on the tv-news and she
replied: it's actually very serious because there might be a war?
at which point i too looked at the black & white tv pictures (we were
poor heh) and can remember seeing ALL those ships lined up to go to war,
noting the news-reader's urgency + kennedy making some dramatic speech i
didn't even understand at the time (was my very first time hearing about
war, russia & american presidents etc) which, i must say, made quite a
impression!
enough to remember to ask her about it a few days later anyway, and she
saying: no it's ok son, looks like there isn't going to be a war this
time, at which point i suppose i just went back to playing with my toys
& didn't wake up again for many years heh...
and now it's YOUR turn to wake up... see? :)
