My questions are, has anyone used any       > audio created with the intention to assist them into a lucid dream or       > any other altered state, and, what are your opinions on the       > availability of these products?              I've spoken to people that used binaural devices and made reasonably       credible claims about achieving meditative states, and having that verified       on an EEG. But I don't have any direct experience with those.              > To tell you the truth, I am very interested(obviously) about these       > methods of using audio to assist me in lucid dreaming, but I don't       > want to get myself into anything beyond my own awareness that isn't       > healthy, mentally and spiritually.              Anything that has a stable rhythmn that is repetitive and is something that       you're willing to listen to for an hour is something that can help you get       into a meditative state. I've done traditional drumming, and if it       interests you, then do it. You may not have any dreams, but playing the       drums is a special experience, especially if you play in a group of       drummers. There's a thing that happens, a non-verbal communication thing.       It's very cool.              Dancing is also good. Trance techno (perhaps unsurprisingly) can be used to       get yourself into a trance. I know people that have done wake-induced       lucids to Pink Floyd, too. (I think you need to be in a state of altered       consciousness to enjoy Pink Floyd, frankly.)              Playing the drums or dancing is unlikely to hurt you unless you're in       extremely bad shape. One of these days, I _will_ put up that website that       explains basic precautions to take while in an LD - in the meantime, please       google the "Dangers of lucid dreaming" thread, in which potential hazards       were discussed in detail. The two most important things anyone can do is:       - recognize that things can go wrong       - arrange to have someone to help if they do go wrong              Try to line up your mental health safety-net before you get into trouble.       Friends who will tell you if you're spouting nonsense are a valuable       commodity :)                            Nick              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
