Yes, refrain from drugs and alchohol.. If you use them, I mean.
While they might give you really crazy dreams, they decrease your lucidity
and ability to remember what has happened.

Also, try spending the moments before you go to sleep relaxing and not
thinking about the future or the past. While you lie in bed, instead focus
on remembering your dreams, becoming lucid, or just what kind of dreams you
   would like to have.

When you wake up in the morning don't jump out of bed because of your alarm
clock. Instead wake up slowly and naturally.. this will help you remember.
Spending time in the morning right as you wake up to remember your dream
helps a lot. You don't need to keep a journal. Just lie in bed for a half
an hour after you wake up thinking about what you may have been dreaming..
If you can't, just start making things up.

This might be a lot easyer if you make more time in your life for
sleeping.. This doesn't mean sleeping more of course.

   Does that help any?
