Not quite. Logic (that amount that we actually have - we don't actually
work logically very much at all - we work inductively) remains intact when
we dream. The major change is that a large number of unusual perceptions
get past the 'this shouldn't be happening' filter, which is essentially
   turned off.

If you accept the theory that dreams exist to train us to deal with brand
new situations, it makes perfect sense to turn off the part that says "I
haven't seen this before and I don't like it."

Yep. Because day-habits will be acted on in dreams, and dream-habits will
be acted on during the day.

I don't like the reality checks that involve writing a number on your arm or
whatever, because that's very easily manipulated. Physical inputs are built
by the dream function to be credible - so checking for an in-credible input
will fail, because the credibility filter is turned off. Better (IMO)
simply to ask yourself several times a day "Am I dreaming?" and not get too
   emotionally invested in the answer.

If your objective in lucid dreaming is to make some kind of conscious
intervention, there are a lot of very good reasons to have a plan. This is
   one of them.
