   Perhaps not so much "controlled" as "allowed to happen" :-)

   It is often called "OBE vibrations". In my own experience, one has to relax   
   in spite of the increasing vibrations/noise/pressure. It is important not to   
   get worked up about it; both fear and excitement tends to prevent the   
   experience from progressing. Then, quite suddenly, they will disappear. At   
   this point, I usually roll over and am in an out-of-body experience. Note   
   that everything may appear very convincingly real around you, so you might   
   miss the fact that you're not just normally awake. You could try a reality   
   check at this point - I find that clocks are generally just as messed up as   
   in regular lucid dreams.
