A lot of medications will change a person's dream experience in some way.
However, I feel that to say "It's because of the medication" is an
oversimplification. Counter to the however, if your medication gives you
really good dreams, that's likely to be a good thing.

Regarding parallels you have drawn (in the original post) between dreaming
and near-death experiences, I've found that a lot of the things I've felt in
dreams have been similar to the time I nearly died, and both types of
experience have led me to dealing with my fears in a more direct and
   productive way.
