   Its actually the "Devil's Trill Sonata" named for the double stop   
   trill passage in the last movement.  Tartini supposedly related that   
   the devil appeared to him in a dream and they had something of a   
   contest of who was the better violinist...Tartini or the Devil. The   
   story is well known to anyone having a recording of the piece. Its   
   probably been embellished over the centuries.
