   I don't think they really mean that they debunked it, but rather that it has   
   nothing to do with residue. The current theory is that our dreams   
   consolidate our memory (as evidenced by the amount and nature of the   
   hippocampal activity during dreaming), and then it is only natural that   
   parts of your day will creep in - especially if it was eventful.
