   Here's a paper on the the question: Are life episodes replayed during   
   dreaming? Not the same as the question of dreams's sourcing from recent   
   memory (day residue) but look at figure 1 and take a look at the the   
   References section.   
      
   One conclusion is that recent memories play a large role in dreams but   
   they are not literal replays of the original memories.
