Sorry, but I still don't see how it actually helps. Ok, having a journal
(dream or regular one) helps you to reflect on past events. However,
I'd say that the time you spend on writing and later viewing your
journal is away from the time you spend on the present moment. On the
other hand, this may just be my personal preference: I even dislike
taking photographs and looking at them. For one, the memorable moment is
spent in looking through the camera and trying to get a good shot.
Second, the pictures themselves seem like faded images compared to the
   real memories of the event.

Even if you know how to walk, you realize that once in a while you need
to sit or even lay down. If you find that lucid dreaming brings you
constant advantages without ill effects, no problem. But doing something
"just because you can" isn't always the best idea.

No need to be biting, there just seems to have been a misconception. I
count what you list above as using the brain (and other parts of the
nervous system), though unconsciously. If you wanted to say that humans
only use less than 11% of their cognitive capacity _consciously_, then I
might agree (not on the exact number, but the idea).

     The fact is

You surely don't know what I think ,)
