Alpha is the state your in right before waking up in the morning,
and right before falling asleep at night..
Some people do their first tasks in alpha, like
brush their teeth etc, before they really wake up..
and is also the state where you are more 'aware'..

Beta is the 'awake' state ..wich where your focus is mostly on the physical,
and regarding feelings and senses, a more 'slumber' awaken state..

Delta is where you are when your sleeping 'notmally' at night

Theta is where you are when your in deep sleep and the most relaxed state..

You can learn to meditate, and achieve the alhpa state that way,
while your in alpha state, your focus is more aware, and its easier to
achieve things that is harder in beta state..

You can go to your local library and read more about this,
a nice meditative method i think can be easy to learn how to
go into alpha state, and use it for several tasks,
is called: The Silva method ..by José Silva

Or look for any books who uses transcendental meditation,
and/or books that focuses on dream states..
