If you know that you are dreaming in a dream then it's a lucid dream.
To have the controlling is not required to classify it as a lucid dream.
Also the degree of your dream the clearness and the awarness step is not
   defined.
It's just that, if you become aware in a dream that you are dreaming it's a
   lucid dream by definition.

hmm not sure how you mean this. From my experience feeling you are in a
dream is a prestep and a sign that you should try to stop and do a check at
this situation (reality check or do like I do it, check for anomalies that
you know this can't be in reality) if you are dreaming so you can get a full
awarness that you are dreaming. Also then when it makes click the clarity of
the dream can still differ from experience to experience.
Speaking of my experience I had a time of intense lucid dreaming where I
increased my dream clarity my awarness and the controlling. With the time I
let it go back to non lucid dreaming just by not paying attention to my
dreams anymore. Although from the quality the dreams are the same like
before my lucid dreaming periode I detected that two things had changed. The
first which I am really happy about, all fear in dreams has wanished. And
the second I have often a sort of dream what I self call semi-lucid dreams.
It's kinda a subconcious knowing that I am dreaming and ejoying the dream
the normal passive way but knowing I can 'awake' and take controll whenever
something happen I don't like. It somehow looks that since I discovered the
possibility of controlling dreams I got a different view of them also in my
   subconciousness.

The problem is that when you are dreaming you do not realise that the
quality is not the same as the real thing. When you have a false awakening
once you see what I mean. When you have a double false awakening you maybe
also experience the different in the dream clearity in one and the same
   dream.
You should know that you can increase the quality to as like as it is in
real or I would say in special dreams judge from the intense above the
quality but which then is another kind of quality you can't compare that
simple.. I think the key is the interest you have in dreaming. As more as
you care about your dreams and want to reacall eveyrthing and think about
your dreams in the afterward maybe write them down and try to get controll
of them and experiment in them and all that as more vivide and clear they
become. It helps to have a target.

   > My dreams whether considered lucid or not are always blurry ( does that
   > make
   > any sense to anyone ) ?

yes. lucid dreams can have very different quality. Try to get controll of
your dream (slow the dream, stop the time, repeat a dream scene with another
ending, change the scenery, fly, walk through walls, summon something ..this
all requires some training and will and you best to try one thing after the
other, give it time, some things you can at once some you have a way to go).
To be able to controll your dream you need a certain clearity. But also
dreams where you have the controll differ in clarity

hope this answers your questions somehow.
