From: leemerkel@verizon.net              Yeah, Rob,              I used to have lucid dreams about 3 to 6 times a month years ago, but have       gone for long periods (a year or more) without them.       Have lately had a few more.              I remember having them most frequently when I had already had enough sleep       (6-8 hours) and then went back to sleep again, on days when I had the time       luxury.       It's as if part of me says, "Hey, I've had enough sleep. I should be awake       now. So even if I'm in a dream, I'm coming awake."       Or perhaps lucid dreaming calls for more reserves of mental energy,       generated from the sleep you've gotten already.              You can also resort to awareness techniques available in various books on       lucid dreaming.       One I remember was to stop yourself from time to time in regular waking life       and say, "Hey, is this a dream?"       If you do it often enough, sometime when you're dreaming, you'll think of       doing it, too.       Do that in a dream, and you're likely to realize it actually is one.              Then go ahead and have your lucid dream fun.       One of my fun activities in lucids -- besides flying, of course -- is to       find a wall, walk through it and see what happens. Sometimes you just enter       another room, but other times you might find yourself falling, as in a well,       and when you land, you're in a totally different place.       Another thing I do when I think of it is just to start a conversation with       someone in the dream, knowing it may be part of your own subconscious self.              Anyway, don't worry about the dry periods. When you start focusing more       attention on having dreams, you'll probably generate the energy to have more       lucid ones.              -- Lee                     "Rob" |
