   Greetings,

Many years ago when I was around 20 or so, I actually had quite a
number of Lucid Dreams... I didn't even realize that there was such a
concept at the time. I realized what was happening, during the dream,
that I was semi-aware of my situation. I started being able to nudge
the situation in a direction I wanted. I became better at it quickly.
This went on maybe for about 2 months. Not every night, but a few per
   week on average.

At some point, it stopped happening. I did not even think so much of
it, as my life was busy and this didn't seem so important. I just
shrugged it off. I missed it, but didn't care enough to investigate.

Now, years later, I recently came upon some mention of Lucid
Dreaming... I started investigating it and realized that I was
experiencing something not so uncommon in that it wasn't a fluke.
Truthfully, had I not experienced it myself, I would probably think it
hokey nonsense. But I know it is real, having experienced it.

My problem is that I have been trying to regain the ability to no
success. For several weeks I have been making periodic spot-checks,
looking at either my hands, a clock, or something. I cannot really do
the "wake up every 90 minutes" thing... it is completely impractical
for me and my lifestyle. Work, family and all that. Every night,
though, I go to bed with some ideas in mind.. I sort of begin an
imaginary story in my mind... something really simple, nothing
esoteric or intense. Sometimes I only make a mental decision that I
want to become lucid in my dream.

Many mornings I remember bits of one or more dream, but equally as
many mornings I have no recollection whatsoever. I have yet to attain
an iota of lucidity during a dream, though.

Anyone have any advice beyond what I'm currently doing? I don't want
to buy one of those electronic gadgets or anything. Any mental
   exercises anyone can recommend?

I am going to look through my coin collection I think I have a coin on
a chain I can start wearing to do spot checks with. Maybe if it is the
same item on a regular basis my habit will manifest in the dreams.

Well, sorry for rambling but I'd like any advice anyone can offer.

   Thanks.

PS I listened to the La Berge sessions. They are a tad informative,
but nothing so impressive to me.
