Is that an ointment or a warm wrap? When I was a very young teen, I
experienced my very first foot cramp, which scared the hell outta me because I
had no idea what was going on. I rush-hobbled out to the living room and
   exclaimed, "My foot is *
   attacking* me!!"

My parents kinda laughed, but sternly remarked "Stand on your toes!"—
somehow I instinctively knew what they meant, but I suppose a part of that was
also based on trust, that they knew what they were talking about, so as I
stepped on my toes (and kinda
stretched them out along with the under-muscles of my foot) sure enough, the
cramp just melted away. This fascinated me so much, I went to my bedroom and
began practicing intentionally causing foot cramps, and massaging them out. I
   eventually got to
the point I could get them to release just by thinking about them, which I
suppose was a form of "mental massage" by directing certain muscles to simply
   "relax."

Meanwhile, a few years later, I learned the bit about "stretch your toes
toward your nose" and other "stretch / release" techniques to help relax
before going "out of body" but they basically just helped me fall asleep :)
   The thing about those magnesium
tablets is, you'll have gentle bowel movements all the next day :)
