|    2022/07/11 Monday: The Job? The (next) N    |

From: dicksilk@gmail.com              Most of last night— nada— at least, nothing I could remember.              Ginger (my dog) got me up at 1:30 AM, and possibly 5:30 or 6:30 AM (sun was       up, but I went back to bed.) I have the impression I went back to sleep       *twice* following her 1:30 romp, but one of the time slots itself may have       evaporated! All I know is, I        was feeling VERY sleepy, and rather than "get up and get to work," I went back       to sleep, with the feeling that there may be a dream (or two?) awaiting.              Sure enough, I had a suite of at least 3 of them, all either of the same       theme, or at least seamless between them all, and they all occurred shortly       before 9:30-ish AM.              The Job?:       The dreamer was walking along the aisles of a store, VERY much like a Wal*Mart       during the graveyard (overnight) shift.              The mind narrating the scene was saying (using my voice) how much the night       shift was preferred, as it was so *quiet* compared to day shift, as the       dreamer was walking along a right-to-left, slightly "down the aisle" type       direction, look up toward the        tops of the aisle shelves to the right.              The very next moment, it's like the same aisle, the same location, only the       sound of a baby crying was heard, as if the shift had changed, and there were       people in the store. The baby sounded infant-level, as if crying for either a       bottle or a diaper        change or a nap.              The dreamer came out of the aisle into an open area of the store, as if the       middle jewelry or possibly the clothing section had been removed. If you've       ever been in a Wal*Mart store, the description fits about the average size of       the (rather large) open        area. What made it curious is there were no boxes on palettes, no rows of       shelves, nothing but a light, brown ambiance to the area (possibly the floor       and walls. There *may* have been tables in the room, like the way a church       gathering hall sets up        tables for a pot-luck, but that was more of a "feeling" than an observation.              PERSONAL DREAM NOTE OBSERVATION: in a dream set in a "real life" area, things       that are *highly* temporal (that move and change a lot, such as inventory in       the clothing section of a Wal*Mart) disappear from the *less* temporal       structures (things that are        basically "set" / relatively immobile) such as the ceiling, walls, and floor       (the building itself.)              The dreamer found a co-worker, one who looked VERY much like David Talent       (most well-known for his 3 or 4 year stint as "Doctor Who" (imdb       com/title/tt0436992) more recently on a BBC miniseries, "Broadchurch,"       imdb.com/title/tt2249364 (which has at *       least* 3 former Doctor Who cast members in season 1! David, plus Jodi       Whittaker (the *present-day,* first female Doctor Who) and Arthur Darvill, who       played "Rory" alongside "Amy Pond" during the Matt Smith stint as "the       Doctor." Apparently, in season 2        of "Broadchurch," Eve Myles *also* of Dr. Who/Torchwood (as "Gwen Cooper")       makes an appearance in "Broadchurch." But only a character resembling David       was in this particular dream segment.)              The dreamer had the feeling of / I believe said, "Where's all the       [inventory]?" or "Where're all the palettes?" (referring to the overnight       stock that has to be put up before the 8 AM shift begins) feeling as if the       dreamer had perhaps fallen asleep        overnight somehow, because there was no memory of any work having been done by       the dreamer (or anyone else for that matter— there was simply no stock in       the aisles or in the open area, anywhere to be seen.)              At some point in the dream, a type of laptop was being carried around by the       dreamer. There were other laptops (maybe 2 others?) but the one being carried       by the dreamer had the most "focus," as it were: the handle(s) was of a type       of hard-plastic,        brief-case type handle, but there was *also* a kind of rubber band-like outer       handle, as if, should the main handle break, there would be this rubber       band-like emergency handle to use to hold it with. Seems horribly useless to       me, unless of course,        there was something like nitro inside the case, or if the contents of the       laptop's hard drive were totally irreplaceable and of utmost value. Or maybe       "dropping things" in this particular dream culture was simply a major, social       taboo?              As the dreamer approaches the "David" character, there's an open laptop on a       desk, and the dreamer has a feeling as if an incomplete task is present,       asking David something like (not entirely verbatim, but very close): "Is that       being formatted / upgraded?        Was I helping you with that? Did that get left unfinished?" (Sort of like       all 3 questions at once, or possibly as only two questions, but that was the       "feel" of them.)              David gave a type of facial indication that such was the case. I honestly       can't remember if he "said" anything aloud, possibly a "yeah" or "yes" reply.        The dreamer replied with something along the lines of "I'll be sure to get       that finished for (or "       with") you," as if offering a reassurance.              However, the next moment was interrupted by a dark-haired female,       average/hefty size, neither slim nor obese, maybe in her 30s or 40s, (possibly       resembling the "Eve Myles" actress previously referenced?) who had a type of       H.R. air about her, announcing        that the next wave of dempanic virus coming around was "anthrax" (which       actually isn't a virus, but a serious infectious disease caused by       gram-positive, rod-shaped bacteria known as Bacillus anthracis.) The dreamer       was thinking (possibly saying)        something along the lines of "I've had the inoculation" either a year or a few       years previously (with the idea that immunization should still be in effect.)              The next thing I recall is the dreamer sitting outside on a mild, well-lit       day, sitting or standing behind a young female (possibly early 20s?) with VERY       white hair. Not gray (or "grey," if you're British) and not very blonde, but       WHITE. The closest        thing I can match it to is an Andy Warhol wig. The length and cut of the       female's hair was about the same as well, only on her, it was fetching / foxy       / attractive, whereas on Andy, it just looked "gauche" (horribly artificial in       some manner.)              The dreamer was (notably, at this point, male) standing behind her, seemingly       with his arms crossed in front of his chest, so as to present a type of       barrier between his front and her back, but standing together so as to share       warmth /body presence to        some degree.                     [continued in next message]              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
