   Certainly if you connect a solar cell to an oscilloscope, you can see   
   the difference between   
      
   incandescent and LED GU10 lamps fed 240V mains   
      
   incandescent and LED MR16 lamps fed 12V from an electronic 'transformer'   
      
   a dimmer feeding either of the above.
