Yesterday I bought a used copy of Oysterband’s Holy Bandits CD
at Fred’s Records and was surprised to find that they wrote and
did the original version of When I’m Up I Can’t Get Down,
which I always thought was a Great Big Sea original.

As an aside, Ian Telfer of Oysterband is straight-type-2-M and
had an old lock that has recently been dissolved so he is now
available to bifs such as Annie Lennox and her bifT husband.
Perhaps she might need a violin/viola playing cowriter. :-)

Despite appearances, I haven’t been Up in a long time, ha.

Oh well, another connection to Oysterband is June Tabor,
who is compatible e.g. with Bill Gates.

I heard Oysterband live twice in Vancouver, once on their
own at The Commodore Ballroom, and once with June Tabor
at 86 Street. Oysterband and The House Band are probably
my favourite live British folk bands. (I heard The House Band
at the W.I.S.E. Hall, where I used to pump the energy,
   until late 1995, ha.)
