   I think that comes from two competing themes in the Republican party.   
      
   1. Government sucks. Therefore do as little governing as possible;   
      
   2. If Obama fails to get anything done, he'll be seen as impotent and   
   therefore easy to beat in an election.   
      
   The fact that the first is utter nonsense and the second has been shown   
   to be fruitless has made no impression on the Republicans. They are, by   
   the standard given above, insane.   
      
   OTOH, I think now they hope to try to get a Republican president elected   
   in 2016 so that they can get to work implementing their own   
   big-government agenda: forced birth, make the rich richer, give everyone   
   guns (except black folks, Latinos, the wrong kind of women, liberals,   
   etc.), dirty the air, water, land, food and drug supply, punish liberals   
   via the IRS and FBI, etc.   
      
   Huh. Turns out the Republicans love them some big government. It just   
   has to be regressive, and intrusive in the *proper* way.
