   Clinton raised taxes with NO Republican support, with whines from   
   Republicans that by 1996, the Dow would be under 1,000. Instead,   
   revenues when up, and the economy started the biggest boom in its   
   history--all in the wake of what Bob Dole famously called "the biggest   
   tax hike in the history of mankind".   
      
   Sure made a shambles of what is laughingly called "Republican economic   
   theory."
