   I'd like to know as well. The only thing I can think of is that   
   Democrats mostly ran the country during the 30's, and those were the   
   Depression years. Other than that, I can't think of why anyone would say   
   Democratic social spending did anything but help the economy. It   
   certainly went a long way to keeping us from going fascist or communist   
   during that time.
