   Actually, not really. Every increase in minimum wage was rapidly eliminated   
   by increased consumer prices.   
      
   After all, if minimum wage worked....then anyone that held a job would be   
   wealthy since the rate is well above the highest pay of 100 years ago.   
      
   Na, it's a shell game that produces a short term improvement followed by   
   adjustments in prices that swallow up any improvements made, and by doing so   
   drag down those that don't get the boost in their incomes resulting in a   
   reduction in the average standard of living.
