Standing in the dark, rainy shadows of a city alleyway, I spied the
Replicant Lukas Mariman covertly transmitting a message to renegade
   friends in alt.fan.blade-runner. Tracking...

I have increasing motivation to buy me a new laptop. One that can do
media/games, etc. without blinking. Something that can double as
movie screen as well as work-anywhere, do multiple things workhorse.
With HDMI output. Anyone got any suggestions?

I don't personally have anything in particular to say about Acer. Did
you get an XP disk with your previous PC then? That is what I infer.
I didn't with mine. It came on its own HD partition and I had to burn
my own disks. I burned both a 4-CD version and a DVD version. So, I
would expect you need to do the same with Vista. Don't put it off.
Figure out what you need to do and get those disks burned without
   delay!
