   Right. I also remembered to try out the latest audio drivers, and I have yet   
   to try the game again.   
      
   I also read something that might help, and which I have yet to try: namely,   
   run the game with DirectX 9 instead of DX10 which Vista uses; apparently you   
   can force Vista to use either.
