   We're not talking about a society *that* far removed from our own. The   
   movie is set 37 years in the future from the time of its release. The   
   businessmen, the political leaders, the experienced journalists, the law   
   enforcement officers, the teachers, the lawyers, the... the everybody in   
   that world, rwally... are the teenagers sitting in movie theathers in   
   1982. Is Scott really telling them "37 years from now, cops are going   
   to shoot defenseless women in the back on the streets of L.A., and none   
   of you are going to give a rat's rump"?
