|    [OT] Tech problem of the week - MFT "iss    |

From: lukas.mariman@REMOVEgmail.com              I've been having recurrent problems that seem to involve the meta file table       (MFT) becoming corrupted over time. After some time I get issues such as       disk checking (chkdsk both in windows and at boot time) not working properly       or even at all, and not being able to boot into safe mode.              Now I'm using lots of applications (too many, probably) so I'm guessing one       or more mess with the file system eventually leading up to the above       problems.              I actually have the very same issues on 2 separate PC's (different hardware       setups) both running XP.              Any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated.              Is there a way to repair the MFT? Other than running chdsk at boot time       which I can't get to work in the first place?              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
