I think both T1 and T2 do clever things with the joys of messing with
the time line, the joy of paradox, explored with guns, so it ticks both
boxes, and so I'm happy with T2 being on the list.

Ooh isn't this a scary sci-fi idea, aliends replacing all the people in
the world with copies...ooooohhh scary!!!! A) why would they do
that....B) why WOULD they do that????

The problem with The Time Machine was fixed with the remake, the
original was just this observation of time travel, and was totally dull.
He invents a time machine, goes for a wander, and interfears a bit in
natural evolution, as a man from the 19th century is going to be much
smarter than anything from the future now...The remake has more going
for it. He invents a time machine to try save his girlfriend's life, but
the paradox means he never can, so he runs away into the future, and
then has to make a choice about his future and the future's direction.

If I was to look at films that should make the list, I agree with Silent
Running, I would have that there. I would have Forbidden Planet, and
maybe the Incredible Shrinking Man (which is down for a 2010 remake)
and/or "Them". I would also have the original Matrix

There is a story that should have a film on the list, but to date, any
attempts to film it has resulted in a mess. "War of the Worlds" We need
someone to make the original story as a film, and maybe have Jeff
   Wayne's music ;-)

IGN has a better top 5 that is more in with my thinking...

Oh people, know that you have committed great sins.
If you ask me what proof I have for these words,
I say it is because I am the punishment of God.
If you had not committed great sins,
God would not have sent a punishment like me upon you.
