That varies greatly with location. People very close to the fires
face having to evacuate and losing their homes, and visibility is
likely extremely limited. Up here in Vancouver, B.C., we can see
some faint discolouration of the daytime sky -- no clouds this week --
and people with sensitive noses can just smell the smoke.

Several years ago when we had a bad fire season and there was
noticeable grit in the air -- larger particles than the very fine
ones we have so far this year -- my wife got some in her eyes
   and needed medical attention.

I'm not sure if we have any posters close to the fires this year,
but if we do, they'll be able to add much more.
