   Veronique and I both evacuated from Boulder Creek on August 18 - V. to Dover's   
   house in Santa Cruz and me and spouse to his parents' in Fremont.   
      
   We visited home last Sunday - still standing by the stroke of luck of being on   
   the east side of the highway instead of the west side. Julia's house is fine   
   too; it's right in town and was badly threatened August 20 but they fought   
   back the fires and    
   saved the town.  Sunday we emptied the fridge (pee-yew!!!) and swept ashes and   
   got some more redwood duff raked up in case a flareup or wind sent embers our   
   way.   
      
   We're moving back home this afternoon; power is still out but supposed to be   
   back tonight, and water testing hasn't come back yet so we can't drink or boil   
   it, but we expect those results tomorrow or early next week.  In the meantime   
   we'll be on    
   generator and bottled/container/stored water, but we'll be home, and that's   
   what counts.
