   One of the support cables broke in August.  It was scheduled to be replaced.   
   Before that could happen, a second cable broke earlier in November.  After an   
   engineering review, it was decided that potential unstability in the remaining   
   cables made it too much of a risk for workers and nearby structures to attempt   
   repair.  It was reluctantly decided to decomission the 57-year-old instrument.
