   I was curious why they're called Swedes, and it turns out it's short for   
   Swedish Turnip. Curiously, rutabaga is from the Swedish word rotabagge.

   Although there are a number of words where the US English doesn't use the   
   word used in England, I'm not sure if there is any other word where   
   Americans follow Swedish instead of the common word in England.
