Or is this a       >transition to some other model, and if so what?                     Our TV setup is uncomplicated. The only thing we watch on the network       station(s) is the local news. Comcast cable provides us with       additional news programs on PBS, CNN, MSNBC, and NHKTV (Japan). In       addition to being news junkies we also watch TCM on cable.              We have streamed Amazon and Netflix for years for movies, and we like       them both. We recently discovered a free streaming service for movies       that has better movies overall than either of them, Kanopy.       All that is required to join Kanopy (it's ad-free) is a library card.       You can read about it at:       https://clark.com/streaming-tv/kanopy-review-library-card-free-streaming/       "Featuring content from big-name production companies and HBO       Documentaries, Kanopy is available as a resource to members of more       than 4,000 libraries around the world.".              I think the future of video entertainment distribution will be more of       the same of what exists now, specialty streams like Disney and       Criterion, sports streams, shlock streams of crappy films and network       comedy shows, etc. - all driven by advertising dollars.              Les              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
