   Not quite a response to this, but CostCo gas pumps often have lines of   
   10 or so cars per lane.  Price can motivate tolerance of inconvenience.   
      
   Some of the regular station pumps I was using last year were more   
   likely to lose their network connection than the cash registers inside,   
   and new pump installations can often have teething pains.
