   I found out a while back that the valve on my furnace needs electricity   
   to work. I really ought to figure out how to run it off a backup battery   
   before there is a long outage during the winter.

   It sounds astonishing the state system refused to winterize the system   
   or have sufficient backup systems for the electrical grid.
